GM: Just so you know, if you attack with both hands, you don’t get the buckler’s AC bonus that round

GM: I think you have too many skill points there… Most of those are cross-class for you

GM: You’re perplexing me on the skills… Do you know what you’re doing?
Kerowyn: haha. i don’t honestly think i ever really know what i’m doing
GM: The ones I’ve checked are a Fighter’s class skills. Those cost 1 point/rank. Everything else costs 2 points/rank.
GM: Wait… I may have miscalculated something
GM: Okay, yeah. You get 28 points (I was thinking 21, which is why I thought you were off.)
Kerowyn: 28? i thought i only got 15?
Kerowyn: do i get some for being human?
GM: 2 for fighter + 1 for INT + 1 for Human, x7 for 3rd level
Kerowyn: ah. ok.
GM: Also, you can only have 7 points in each skill (7 ranks for class skills, 3.5 for cross-class skills)
Kerowyn: right. ok.
Kerowyn: what can i craft with the craft skill?
GM: Anything you want. Just choose what when you take the skill.
GM: a general category. fletcher, weaponsmith, carver, etc.
GM: Search is not a class skill…
Kerowyn: right, so i’d have to spend double, but it can only go to 3.5

GM: Do you have an idea what you want your character to be able to do?
Kerowyn: nothing in particular. just contribute to the team. swing my sword and killed creatures/bandits

GM: If you’re wanting to use a two-handed weapon, Power Attack is pretty good (lower attack bonus for extra damage)
GM: Weapon Focus is always nice
GM: Dodge can help make up for the AC you lose by not having a shield
GM: Do you want to just tank, or do you have a fighting style in mind?
Kerowyn: tank might as well. since i have such high health
GM: weapon focus only applies to one weapon, I assumed that’s the one you wanted.

Kerowyn: here’s a question. Whats the difference between Feats and Special Abilities?
GM: In terms of how they work, there isn’t really one.
Kerowyn: ok.
GM: Special abilities are things you get from your race or class, like rage or sneak attack. Feats are available to everyone at their every third level
Kerowyn: right, ok
GM: Spring attack has Mobility as a prereq
GM: …and a BAB of 4, actually
GM: you’re only at +3
Kerowyn: boo
GM: If you take Mobility, I’ll still let you have Spring Attack. I don’t see it being a problem at level 3.
Kerowyn: hmm. ok.
GM: Since you’ve got 2700 to spend, you probably want +1 armor and Masterwork weapon
Kerowyn: yea, i’m looking at all that now. think i should ditch the buckler and just get some good armor

GM: SRD has everything you need
GM: Magic armor requires Masterwork (150 gp for the check penalty to be lessened 1), plus 1000 for the magic (1 enhancement to armor bonus)
Kerowyn: ok so the 1 enhancement is that a specific magic enhancement or just a +1 guard against magic
GM: It adds 1 to the AC bonus granted by the armor
GM: So any time the armor applies, that +1 is there
Kerowyn: ok, and thats the the magic does? what does the masterwork do for it?
GM: Masterwork lowers the check penalty by 1, and is a prerequisite for adding the +1 enhancement

Kerowyn: well like, how do you know how much the mstwk magic breastplate gives you on armor

Kerowyn: so like on the armor page on this, it says Breastplate – 200gp – ac bonus 6 – max dex 3 – skill penalty -4

GM: Skill penalty is a penalty to movement-related skills for wearing that armor
GM: Since it’s MWK, the skill check penalty goes down one, to -3

GM: You can add your STR bonus to damage with the composite bow for 100 gp more per point of STR
GM: So 200 more would let you add your full STR mod to your ranged attacks

GM: You could make some of your other weapons masterwork
GM: Or you could go look at other magic items, like potions
Kerowyn: how do you add the 2 to the attack on the actions page?
GM: Sorry, that’s just for the damage

GM: If you open the details for the longbow, and see the little die, it’s right beneath that
GM: If you mouse-over the box with the 2 in it there, it tells you what it’s for

Kerowyn: so how about silversheen potions to my my arrows silver is that at all useful?
GM: if you’re fighting shapeshifters and vampires, it’s invaluable. otherwise, not so much
Kerowyn: ok cool
GM: Honestly, silvering a weapon is cheap. You’d be better off just buying a silver weapon.
Kerowyn: yea. i’m not too worried about it
Kerowyn: so how about two potions for cure moderate wound
GM: Couldn’t hurt
GM: Shield of Faith and Bull’s Strength potions might also be worth your attention
Kerowyn: so would shield of faith only work for me or does it have an area affet?
GM: Just you. But Shield of Faith is 1/6 the price, and if that extra +2 to your AC saves you from one or two attacks for at least 12 damage, it’s done the same work as the cure potion.
GM: It’s not as reactive as the cure potion, though, so it’s just a matter of personal choice
Kerowyn: yea true
Kerowyn: well i can either get one Bull strength or 6 shields haha
GM: One point of interest – Cure Moderate Wounds averages 12 hp. Cure Light averages 5, but costs 1/6 as much.
GM: 2.5 times more efficient, presuming you’re healing outside of a fight.
Kerowyn: ok
GM: Again, it’s just a matter of paying for the option to be reactive instead of proactive
Kerowyn: yea.
Kerowyn: ok
Kerowyn: leaves me with 45 gold
GM: That will work, then
GM: Unless there’s just some more toys you want, like alchemical items or something, you’re probably good
Kerowyn: what are alchemical?
GM: Just random stuff. They’re on the Goods & Services equipment tab
GM: stuff like smokesticks, acid or fire splash weapons, etc.
