DM: I suppose we can start, since last time the two of you had left Matt behind with his tower shield and the hope no more metal snakes came for him
Kerowyn: haha
Kerowyn: fingers crossed
Kedda: I have to upgrade, but go ahead and start.
Kedda: I’ll do that while you do stuff.
DM: Hey, welcome
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Hi!
DM: Okay, so. Last time, we left Kedda in the lever room, while Folwyn and Kerowyn were going around and had just taken out another pair of the armor-guards.
Kerowyn: yes
DM: What’s next?
Kerowyn: and we treid and failed making a map
DM: true
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Failed? I thought we did pretty ok. :(
DM: I’m just being agreeable. Agreable?
Kerowyn: aww. ok, you guys did fine.
DM: Definitely agreeable.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): 2 ’e’s.
Kerowyn: haha
Kerowyn: ok, so onward
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): At this point, we should continue the way we were going. Without the map handy, I don’t know exactly which way that is.
Kerowyn: it was left if i recall
Campaign saved.
DM: The room you’re in has one door that leads back the way you came, and one door each ahead of you and to your left.
Kerowyn: well, we have to keep going places we haven’t been before if we expect to find the second lever room
Folwyn da’Janecke: Right.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Left then.
Kerowyn: left then
DM: You push the door open, revealing a large alchemy lab.
Kerowyn: hmm,i look around.
Campaign saved.
DM: There are a number of pieces of equipment, plus numerous vials and flasks of liquids and powders on the various tables and shelves around the lab. One door leads out of the room, on the wall to your right.
[TURN] Kedda
[TURN] Kerowyn
[ROUND 8]
[TURN] Kerowyn
ElectricCaveman: Sorry, just doing some upkeep on my side. No combat.
Kerowyn: i grap a few of the random vials of liquid and put them in my backpack
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): The door leading right… Would that go towards the same area as the door going straight in the previous room (the one we haven’t checked)?
DM: Potentially. It’s on the same relative wall, but about 30’ away from the previous room.
Kerowyn: beats going back
Folwyn da’Janecke: Yep.
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: I check the new door for traps.
DM: search?

[TOWER] GM → [2d10 = 4]
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Kalyn, how are you doing with health?
Kerowyn: im at…28
Kerowyn: want me to go in first>
Folwyn da’Janecke: OK, I open the door
DM: The door swings open into the lab. Past it is a hallway, about 10’ wide and 50’ long. There is a door on the left just ahead, and on the right at the end of the hall. A small, brown, impish humanoid is standing toward the end of the hall and waves at you, beconing you to come closer.
DM: beckoning*
Folwyn da’Janecke: What the devil?
Kerowyn: creepy
Folwyn da’Janecke: Indubitably.
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SKILL] Search [MOD:INT] [1d20+1 = 14]
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): For traps and such.
DM: You don’t see anything from the doorway.
Kerowyn: You there, what business do you have down here!
Folwyn da’Janecke: I begin moving forward cautiously.
DM: The creature doesn’t answer, it just grins and beckons at you again
Kerowyn: ack. umm, door on the left?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Sounds good.
Folwyn da’Janecke: I’ll keep an eye on the imp, you open the door.
Kerowyn: ok, i search for traps
Kerowyn → [SKILL] Search [MOD:INT] [1d20+1 = 17]

DM: There is a muffled grinding noise, and the door behind you slams closed.
Kerowyn: we’re in the danger xzone

DM: No, but they go to just a couple feet off of it.
Spear Hall Trap → [ATTACK (M)] Spear [1d20+3 = 7]
Attack 7 → [at Mephit, Earth] [MISS]
Kerowyn: so we could lie down and avoid the,?
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): No way am I going prone.
Kerowyn: cause i don’t exactly want to go prone unless im sure, haha.
Kerowyn: haha, exactly
DM: The creature at the end of the hall also dodges the spears, but gets quite agitated and begins yelling angrily in a language you do not recognize. Roll initiative.

Kerowyn: ah, well very good
DM: I think you all have chugged enough cure light potions to be familiar with them by now
DM: I’ll say you picked up two more cure light potions in the random lab grab.

Folwyn da’Janecke: Right then, let’s go back and take the other left.
[TOWER] GM → [1d10 = 4]
DM: You open this door into another long, wide hallway
Kerowyn: hmm.
Kerowyn: do we follow it or go back?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Let’s follow it.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Also, search for traps.
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SKILL] Search [MOD:INT] [1d20+1 = 18]
DM: You find nothing of note as you proceed down the long, torchlit hall. Several score paces later, you find yourself in the opposite side of the lever room from Kedda.
Kerowyn: yay!
DM: Or Kedda’s shield, anyway. You can’t actually see him behind it.
Kerowyn: Kedda!!! WAKE UP!
Campaign saved.
Kerowyn: so there are about to be a lot of clicks, hope you are prepared, haha
ElectricCaveman: click
Kedda: What?
Kerowyn: ready to solve a puzzle?
Kedda: No.
Kerowyn: aww
Kerowyn: i pout in the corner
Kedda: I don’t have any idea about this so you just tell me what to do.
Kerowyn: that makes two of us
Folwyn da’Janecke: Right…
Kerowyn: umm, i pull the lever furtherst from the door.
DM: click
DM: I don’t actually remember where they all were, so for simplicity’s sake, let’s just say that all the ones on Kedda’s side are up, and on the other side they are all down except the one closest to the door.
Kerowyn: ok
Kerowyn: so i pull the lever by the door
DM: CLANK
Kerowyn: then the lever furthest from the door
DM: click
Campaign saved.
Kerowyn: mer. ok so me and kedda pull the closest levers to the door at the same time
ElectricCaveman: If you all just get totally fed up, tell me. The puzzle fit this mad artificer flavor nicely, but it’s not really important for anything.
DM: CLANK
Kerowyn: besides not having any idea what im doing. or what the significance of clank or click is. i could probably work on this all day…
DM: If it’s too frustrating to be fun, we’ll just skip it; we’ve already spent too much time on it. Though I do assure you it’s pretty simple.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Remind me again what the clicks and clanks are.
Kerowyn: umm, well, my only thought would be to swap them all. all one side thats up goes down, the other goes up.
DM: Actually, I’m not sure I remember…
Kerowyn: i remember though that we had to clank the door, then clank a lever, then go back to the door, then the next one
DM: I think I already did it wrong. You got a click for every lever, except for a clank when you pulled one after pulling the one by the door.
Kerowyn: right
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Right, and that one wouldn’t stay the way we had it.
DM: yes
Kerowyn: so my only thought is to swap them all, using that strategy
ElectricCaveman: And I’ll give you hints, if you want. Or we can skip it.
Kerowyn: give us a hint and if it doesn’t help at all, then we’ll give in.
Folwyn da’Janecke: I’d like to try it, I just think we need some information on which levers are in which positions.
Kerowyn: ok, im game if you guys are
DM: The starting position doesn’t actually matter. Let’s say, for simplicity’s sake, that they’re all high on one side and all low on the other right now. (Except the one by the door, it’s always high.)
Kerowyn: i still vote we get it opposite
Kerowyn: all on keddas side go down, all on our side go up
Folwyn da’Janecke: So like that?
Folwyn da’Janecke: All on Kedda’s side can’t go down, the one closest to the door will stay up.
DM: Yeah. And we’ll say that the right is the door for both.
Campaign saved.
Kerowyn: right. im just trying to think of what pattern there could be.
DM: So, are we all on the same page?
Kerowyn: all i know right now, if that on keddas path the swords came from the ground.
Kerowyn: on our side, the spears came from above.
Kerowyn: but that could just be nonsense
Kerowyn: ok, so clank the one by the door
DM: click
DM: actually, CLICK
Kerowyn: then the first one.
DM: click
DM: no, wait. CLANK
DM: I’m so confused…
Kerowyn: haha
Folwyn da’Janecke: That’s the one farthest from the door.
Kerowyn: right
DM: Let’s just start over so I know where I am…
Folwyn da’Janecke: Here’s an idea.
DM: Okay, starting blank-slate from here…
Folwyn da’Janecke: Put the doors in the middle.
DM: If you prefer, okay
Folwyn da’Janecke: Move Kedda to the side of the room he’s actually on (left), and me and Kerowyn to the right.
Kerowyn: close enough, but i don’t see how that helps neccesarily.
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: OK, first obvious things to do are mirror images or opposites.
Folwyn da’Janecke: So.
DM: The levers are actually on opposite walls, if you care
confused levers: click
confused levers: click
confused levers: click
confused levers: click
Kerowyn: right, i don’t think it matters
confused levers: click
Folwyn da’Janecke: OK, so they all stay where I put them.
DM: yes
Folwyn da’Janecke: Does anything else happen?
DM: nope
Kerowyn: don’t forget that we have to clank the first lever in order to get the others to clank
Folwyn da’Janecke: I don’t remember that part, can you explain it?
confused levers: The lever closest to the door clicks louder than the rest (added today). After the loud click, when you pull another lever, you get a CLANK.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Hmmm.
Folwyn da’Janecke: I try the lever closes to the door on my side.
confused levers: CLICK
Folwyn da’Janecke: Does it click, clank, stay?
Folwyn da’Janecke: OK.
Kerowyn: it loudly clicks then goes back
confused levers: yes
Kerowyn: haha
Folwyn da’Janecke: So it really does act like its opposite.
Kerowyn: now whichever we move on our side should click
Kerowyn: sorry it should CLANK
Folwyn da’Janecke: Does it CLANK?
confused levers: CLANK
Folwyn da’Janecke: Alright.
Kerowyn: have kedda do the same?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Yes.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Let’s CLANK every lever into the up position.
Kerowyn: ok!
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: So Kedda pulls his lever 1, then his lever 2.
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
Kerowyn: and so on
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLIKC
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: CLICK
confused levers: CLANK
Folwyn da’Janecke: Anything interesting/new/different?
DM: ummm… nope
Folwyn da’Janecke: Damn.
DM: No, there isn’t. Assuming I followed that right.
DM: No. I did follow it right, and nothing happens.
Kerowyn: i vote then we do the opposite
Kerowyn: so since blue was down first and is now up. we need black to be down.
Kerowyn: or was black down at first as well?
Kerowyn: mer
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Umm…
Folwyn da’Janecke: No, black was all up, then we moved them all down except the first one to match what the other side looked like.
Kerowyn: so blue has been down while black was up but not the other way around
ElectricCaveman: If you decide you want hints, let me know, since I didn’t really give you any clues or anything.
Kerowyn: i’m gonna put all the black ones down real quick. using our method of course
DM: CLICK
DM: so you just switch all the black ones?
confused levers: CLANK
confused levers: repeated for all the black…
confused levers: nothing happens
Kerowyn: thanks
Kerowyn: ok, i think its time for the first hint because my only clue doesn’t work
Folwyn da’Janecke: OK.
Campaign saved.
ElectricCaveman: Hmm… What kind of hint do you want?
Kerowyn: a useful one, haha
DM: I could give one based on what you’ve been doing, or I could give you one that would actually make sense in-game.
Kerowyn: in game
Kerowyn: surely one of our characters noticed something
Kerowyn: course we are tanks but thats beside the point
DM: I’ve got one for you. You remember one of the blueprints from earlier that had a large number of levers in it. You sort it out, and sure enough you find a schematic titled “Vault Lock” that has the right number of levers. You can’t follow the details of the mechanisms, but you can see clearly labled 2 doors, 10 switches (5 per door), and 2 triggers (1 per door).
Campaign saved.
DM: That seemed like a hint in my head, now I’m not sure if it actually helps…
Folwyn da’Janecke: I’m pretty sure that just tells us everything we already knew.
DM: I was relying on the word trigger clarifying how it works. But it doesn’t.
DM: I honestly don’t know how to describe the mechanism without giving it away…
Kerowyn: hmm
Folwyn da’Janecke: From what I’ve seen, it ‘triggers’ the switches to act differently (i.e. clanking instead of clicking). The other possibility would be that the triggers must be thrown once the switches are in the proper orientation, such that flipping the triggers disengages the lock and/or opens the doors.
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: That wouldn’t explain why the triggers have an effect on the switches, though.
Kerowyn: right so we have to trigger something first.
Kerowyn: then figure out whats been disengaged
DM: Based on the schematics, the levers all lead to a more complex device, which then connects to the doors. The points at which the “triggers” connect is labled “Engage”. The other lever’s connection points are labeled “Tumblers/Reset”.
Kerowyn: ok so its a giant lock, and we are the bobby pin picking it
Kerowyn: ok, lets move all the black ones back up, using the method
DM: CLICK-CLACK, etc
Campaign saved.
‘Kalyn’ connection lost. Waiting for reconnect
‘Kalyn’ disconnected
Campaign saved.
Campaign saved.
‘Kalyn’ connected
Campaign saved.
DM: Great thing about moving at speed of plot, you can repeat one technique ad nausium in just a few seconds.
Kerowyn: well, then lets start by pulling both engages at the same time
Kerowyn: then both of the furthest tumblers from the door together. then the engages again at the same time
DM: The first trigger CLICKs, the second makes a whole string of CLICKs as the massive doors swing open
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): LOL.
Kerowyn: yea, i meant to do that
Campaign saved.
ElectricCaveman: The combination was variable. You just had to make them match.
Kerowyn: then go at the same time
ElectricCaveman: Nope. Just match them and pull both triggers. In either order. Or simultaneously. Whatever.
Folwyn da’Janecke: If they just had to match, shouldn’t they have gone off when we were hitting the triggers before each one?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Ah, both triggers at once.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Never mind.
DM: No, because you never pulled both triggers together
DM: That’s why it took me some time to figure out earlier. You matched them, so I had to make sure the triggers weren’t together.
Kerowyn: haha, well i had the idea right the whole time, i just assumed there had to be a pattern.
Kerowyn: sigh
Kerowyn: ONWARD!!!!!!
Kerowyn: Kedda welcome back, would you like a potion?
confused levers: Goodbye!
Folwyn da’Janecke: Good riddance, more like. Infernal things.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Kedda doesn’t need a potion, he has his shield.
Kerowyn: ok
Folwyn da’Janecke: Let’s get a look at this new room.
Campaign saved.
DM: You find yourselves in yet another long hallway, 20’ wide and over 100’ long. The massive doors slowly swing closed behind you.
Kedda: I have my own potions anyway.
Kerowyn: oh good
Folwyn da’Janecke: I search for hanging axes, tripwires and pressure plates.
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SKILL] Search [MOD:INT] [1d20+1 = 21]
Kerowyn: haha
DM: You find no dangers hidden in the hallway,
Folwyn da’Janecke: Onwards!
Kerowyn: ok, so whats in front of us
Kedda: There are overt dangers.
Kerowyn: more doors?
Campaign saved.
DM: As you proceed forward, a light flares up out of the floor at the end of this hallway. As it fades, you see a dully glowing spiral of wood, a couple feet high, where just a moment ago there was an empty wooden floor.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Clearly I should have engaged the services of one more familiar with the arcane arts…
Kerowyn: i declare my dodge of the fire!
Folwyn da’Janecke: I examine the spiral of wood.
Kerowyn: so lets get away fromt he fire
Folwyn da’Janecke: What fire?
Kerowyn: i thought the wood was on fire
Kerowyn: its just glowing
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Your mom was on fire last night.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): BURN!
Kerowyn: don’t mind me, im just crazy. haha
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Literally.
Kerowyn: Gasp, thanks
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): That’s what she said.
Kerowyn: ok, so we have a glowing piece of wood in front of us.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): That’s also what she said.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Shutting up now.
Kerowyn: i move closer
DM: No. Roll initiative.
Folwyn da’Janecke → [INIT] [1d20+1 = 17]
DM: But first roll a will save.
Kerowyn → [SAVE] Will [1d20+1 = 11]
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SAVE] Will [1d20+2 = 16]
Kerowyn → [INIT] [1d20+2 = 11]
Campaign saved.
3 [2d43 = 7]
DM: Need a Will save from Kedda
Kerowyn: Kedda!
Kerowyn: Kedda!?!
Kedda → [SAVE] Will [1d20+2 = 6]
Kerowyn: haha, aww
Folwyn da’Janecke: …
DM: The helix glows more brightly for a moment, then the air around you begins to shimmer with every color of the rainbow. Kedda is fascinated by its glittering beauty (can take no actions until I say otherwise). The other two of you are fine.
Campaign saved.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): OK
ElectricCaveman: At least this will be slightly less fabulous than dying covered in glitter.
[ROUND 1]
[TURN] Folwyn da’Janecke
Kerowyn: ok. time to kill a stick
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I move forward.
[TURN] Kerowyn
ElectricCaveman: Impressive.
[TURN] Spell Turret
Kerowyn: i follow
Kerowyn: we probably should have hid behind kedda and followed him up
DM: The helix pulses again, this time projecting a sphere of light that speeds toward Folwyn. Reflex save.
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SAVE] Reflex [1d20+2 = 3]
Folwyn da’Janecke cries.
Spell Turret → [DAMAGE®] Striking Fist [TYPE: nonlethal] [1d6 = 4]

Folwyn da’Janecke: 16
Folwyn da’Janecke → [ABILITY] Strength check [1d20+3 = 22]

dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): The 16 was my strength score, I grabbed the wrong thing.
DM: The ball of force shoves at you, but you dig in and resist its push.
[TURN] Kedda
[ROUND 2]
[TURN] Folwyn da’Janecke
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): How far can I charge?
DM: 40’
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Fine.

Kerowyn: what did kedda do?
DM: Stare at the pretty lights
Kerowyn: oh right, haha
Kerowyn: ok, and i’m done as well
[TURN] Spell Turret
DM: The spiral pulses light again; this time a small flock of knives appear in the air around it. One of them flies suddenly at Folwyn.
Spell Turret → [ATTACK®] Cloud of Knives [1d20+4 = 13]

DM: The blade bounces harmlessly off your armor
[TURN] Kedda
DM: Kedda, you’re still enamoured of the light show
DSM (Kedda): Can I go?
DM: nope
DSM (Kedda): Okay then.
[ROUND 3]
[TURN] Folwyn da’Janecke
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): What is the red square?

DM: I just put it on the intersection for symmetry’s sake
Folwyn da’Janecke → [ATTACK (M)] Katana [CRIT 19] [1d20+8 = 11]
Attack 11 → [at Spell Turret] [HIT]

[TURN] Kerowyn
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Oh, yes.
Kerowyn: i declare my dodge on it first. then what do i get for flanking, is it plus 2?
DM: yep
ElectricCaveman: I need to learn how to use the new Effects thing,
Kerowyn → [ATTACK (M)] 1 GreatSword [CRIT 19] (-2) [1d206 = 24]
Attack 24 → [at Spell Turret] [HIT]
Kerowyn → [DAMAGE (M)] 1 GreatSword [MULT:1.5] (8) [TYPE: slashing,magic] [2d6+10 = 15]
Damage 10 → [to Spell Turret] [PARTIALLY RESISTED]
Kerowyn: he partially resisted my magic sword? im impressed
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Could be that it’s not immune to bludgeoning or piercing or something, but I doubt it.
Kerowyn: im just gonna super hack it
DM: Is it its turn?
Kerowyn: oh sorry, yes, im done
[TURN] Spell Turret
Campaign saved.
DM: The helix pulses again. A cone of bluish energy sweeps out over Kerowyn. Will save.
Kerowyn → [SAVE] Will [1d20+1 = 21]
Kerowyn: woo
DM: You feel the energy tug at your mind, trying to drain you of energy, but shrug off its effects.
Kerowyn: hey this is really pretty, i should get one of these for my house, haha.
DM: Another of the knives then flies at Folwyn
Spell Turret → [ATTACK®] Cloud of Knives [1d20+4 = 17]
Attack 17 → [at Folwyn da’Janecke] [MISS]
[TURN] Kedda
DM: The colors in the air fade. You’re free to act.
DSM (Kedda): Can I charge it from here?
DM: Nope

Attack 11 → [at Folwyn da’Janecke] [MISS]
Folwyn da’Janecke: Alchemical fire!
[TURN] Kedda
DM: The knives around it vanish
Kerowyn: idk, can it attack from behind, besides those knives?
Kerowyn: like, can it still attack folwyn?
Kerowyn: hmm. we had done 33 damage to it, it was still at light, now its healed again. we’re gonna have to do some serious damage.
Kerowyn: so what does kedda do
[ROUND 5]

dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): It’d be nice if Repair was a spell that it only had 1 of…
Kerowyn: maybe there is a latch or a button that can nullify its resistance or even put it away?
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SAVE] Will [1d20+2 = 22]
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Fuck yeah.
Kerowyn → [SAVE] Will [1d20+1 = 15]

dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Make that 60 damage. Stupid resistance.
ElectricCaveman: If you use your katana two-handed, instead of two weapon fighting, you can add 1.5 STR to your attack. That would be 1 more damage, which is more than your wakizashi is doing.

Kerowyn: and now that we’re done. can we take a food break?
DM: Sure.
Kerowyn: cool with everyone?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Sure.
Kedda: I just finished eating so whatever.

DM: I’ll probably just go make ramen or something
DM: so I’ll be here whenever we want to start back up

Kerowyn: yes
Kerowyn: thats cool
Campaign saved.
DM: …
Campaign saved.
Kerowyn: …
DM: Kyle’s here now. Is Matt lurking around somewhere?
Campaign saved.
DM: Okay. So, you’re at the end of the hall. It branches left and right. To the right, the hall continues about 40’ to a door on the left. To the left is a massive arch, through which several seige weapons can be seen on display. Also in the room on the left are two massive longbows, over 12’ high, pulled tight and ready to launch broad-headed arrows down the hall at you.
Folwyn da’Janecke: It’s a trap!
Folwyn da’Janecke: Longbows like that must require a giant’s strength to wield.
Kerowyn: umm, lets not go left
Folwyn da’Janecke: Let’s avoid them.
Kerowyn: so right
DM: to the right? But it’s not the left!
Campaign saved.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): True…
Kerowyn: but it doesn’t have blatantly obvious siege weapons pointed at us
ElectricCaveman: also true
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I am conflicted.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): If they’re blatantly obvious, we should be able to avoid them, yes?
Kerowyn: perhaps
Folwyn da’Janecke: Live a little! Let’s go left!
DM: The hall is 20’ wide, but the arch is only 10’. The arrows are pointed through either side of the arch.
Folwyn da’Janecke: We could go prone and crawl.
Folwyn da’Janecke puts his money where his mouth is.
DM: What do Kedda and Kerowyn do while Folwyn crawls toward the arch?
Kerowyn: yea, i guess
Campaign saved.
Kerowyn: if you are going that way, im getting the crap down before you set it off
DM: Kedda?
Kedda: Suuuure…
Kerowyn: so we are all prone crawling left
DM: You belly-crawl toward the arch. As you cross through the portal, you hear the ominous click of a pressure plate. The two large arrows go whizzing over your heads, down the hall, where they crash loudly into the reinforced masonry.
Kerowyn: yaya
Kerowyn: tank ingenuity
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): w00t
Kerowyn: ok, lets go explore this room
Folwyn da’Janecke: Indeed.
Campaign saved.
DM: The room you are in houses numerous pieces of seige equipment. Around the edges of the room are smaller weapons of every kind, all of masterwork quality. One rack of the weapons is adamantine.
DM: Or, the weapons on it are.
DSM (Kedda): I will brb.
Kerowyn: haha.
Kerowyn: i want the rack made of adamantine
Kerowyn: umm. what kind of weapons are there?
Kerowyn: all kinds
Kerowyn: hmm
Kerowyn: can i find a mastwrk morningstar?
Campaign saved.
DM: Indeed
Kerowyn: sweet
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Is there a masterwork warhammer around?
DM: certainly
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I dropped mine during the fight with the imp, and a replacement seems like a good idea.
DM: You didn’t pick it back up when you were done killing it?
Kerowyn: haha. ok, so what does masterwork do for it again?
DM: 1 on attack rolls
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I never specified, so I figured I’d play it safe and just get a new one later.
DM: it works
Folwyn da’Janecke: Adamantine increases an object’s hardness and decreases its weight, right?
DM: Adamantine overcomes the hardness of objects
Folwyn da’Janecke: Oh right, mithril does the weight bit.
Kerowyn → [ATTACK (M)] [1d20

Campaign saved.
DM: ATTACK!!!!!!!
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Is there anything else here?
DM: heaps of weapons, and another, smaller arch in the far corner on the right
Kerowyn: keep turning left and the arch will be on our left. lets do it!
Folwyn da’Janecke: I grab an adamantine masterwork warhammer, an adamantine masterwork shortsword (wakizashi) and a masterwork composite longbow 3 strength
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): If I can find them, of course.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Then we go.
DM: Yeah, those are all there.
Kerowyn: oh, so there can be adamantine masterwork? i take it those are better
DM: The rack with the adamantine weapons is more of a display case. It’s got one each of several things: a warhammer, a battleaxe, a longsword, a shortsword, etc. (Except two daggers).
Campaign saved.
DM: Adamantine is automatically masterwork
Kerowyn: so i should find a adamantine masterwork morningstar. if its there because it would be better than just my normal masterwork one
Kerowyn: oh, ok
DM: There isn’t an adamantine morningstar. Only more common weapons. There is a mace, though.
Kerowyn: aww. ok, im good then
DM: Is Kedda taking any loot?
Folwyn da’Janecke: I guess not.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Onwards!
DM: Okay. Through the next arch lies a similar room, somewhat smaller, and full of fancy armor and barding.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Sweet.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Any special armor?
Campaign saved.
DM: There are many suits of masterwork heavy armors, all intricately decorated, with a few lighter pieces (chainmail, breastplates). The barding is generally lighter, scale mails dominating, but no less intricate. There doesn’t seem to be anything of a material more exotic than bronze and steel.
DSM (Kedda): I am now back.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I’m not going to cart any of this out of here then.
DM: Did you want any loots from the weapons room, Kedda?
DSM (Kedda): Reading the backlog.
DSM (Kedda): What does the adamantine do?
DSM (Kedda): Other than automatically masterwork.
DM: overcomes object hardness
DSM (Kedda): I see. If there’s another warhammer and a longsword I’d like to take them.
DSM (Kedda): I assume there are no armours here.
Kerowyn: i’m good on both the weapons and armor
DM: There is not another warhammer, but there is a heavy mace, if you want that. There is a longsword.
DSM (Kedda): I’ll take them both.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Wait, is a heavy mace two-handed?
Campaign saved.
DM: no, just one-handed
DM: Difference between a warhammer and heavy mace is the x3 crit for the hammer
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): There wouldn’t have happened to be a heavy flail back in that room, would there?
DM: certainly
DM: not an adamantine one, though
Folwyn da’Janecke runs back and gets the heavy flail, letting Kedda take the silly little warhammer if he really wants it.
Folwyn da’Janecke changes his mind, and keeps both weapons. You snooz, you lose!
ElectricCaveman: lol
DSM (Kedda): Okay, then I have the warhammer.
Campaign saved.
DM: So, is that all sorted?
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I believe so, yes.
DM: There’s a door on the right side of the armor room, btw.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Let’s go through that door then.
Kerowyn: lets do it
DM: The door opens to another hall. At the end, some 70’ away, is another door. To the left, about 20’ down, the hall opens to a wide space with two rows of columbs.
Kerowyn: hmm
Kerowyn: can i just note quickly that this dungeon is massive.
Kerowyn: anyways. left?
DM: Noted.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Left!
Campaign saved.
DM: To the left is a space 30’ wide, with two rows of carved columbs proceeding down it. At the end is another arch, 10’ wide.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Through the arch!
Kerowyn: check for traps

1 = 4]
Kerowyn → [SKILL] Search [MOD:INT] [1d20+1 = 18]
Folwyn da’Janecke: There’s nothing here, let’s go!
Kerowyn: i’ll handle this one. ;)
DM: Through the arch you see another display room, this one with both weapons and armor, and more sparce than the other two. Each item has its own pedistal (sp?) with plenty of space around it. In the center stands a massive humanoid shape forged of bent metal. There seem to be no traps.
DM: One of the suits of armor in this room is the object of your quest.
DSM (Kedda): What do I do to ID the armors around the room?
Folwyn da’Janecke: Hmmm…
Kerowyn: oh ho ho. we are brilliant dungeon crawlers
DM: I would guess you ask Folwyn
Kedda: HEY! Which of these is better than what I have?
Folwyn da’Janecke: All of them.
Campaign saved.
Folwyn da’Janecke: That metal man must be one of the artificer’s creations. We should be cautious.
DSM (Kedda): Is this true?
Kedda: Cautious as in hit it first?
Kedda readies himself.
ElectricCaveman: In this room? Probably. In the previous room? Depends on what you want.
Kerowyn: we could all take a pot shot at it real quick.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Avoiding the various pedestals, and staying as far from the center of the room as I can, I move towards my ancestral armor.
Folwyn da’Janecke Assuming nothing has yet happened, I grab the armor and make for the door.
DM: As soon as you near the first pedistal, something happens
DM: Specifically, a shockwave rolls out from the golem in the center of the room, slamming into everyone
DSM (Kedda): I know how this works.
Kedda jumps over every shockwave until the boss attacks. Dodging the attack, I hit it while it’s “stuck.”
Campaign saved.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Lol
DM: Everyone roll Ref saves
Kerowyn: haha
Kerowyn → [SAVE] Reflex [1d20+3 = 5]
Folwyn da’Janecke → [SAVE] Reflex [1d20+2 = 3]
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Shit.

Damage 9 → [to Kerowyn]
Damage 9 → [to Folwyn da’Janecke] [HEAVY DAMAGE]
Kedda → [SAVE] Reflex [1d20+5 = 22]
Damage 4 → [to Kedda]
DM: Folwyn and Kerowyn are also knocked prone
DM: Roll initiatives, if you wish
Folwyn da’Janecke → [INIT] [1d20+1 = 13]
‘Kalyn’ connection lost. Waiting for reconnect
Kedda → [INIT] [1d20+2 = 18]
Campaign saved.
‘Kalyn’ disconnected
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Damn.
Kerowyn → [INIT] [1d20+2 = 4]
DM: I’ll let him re-roll that…
DM: Though the golem just rolled a 1 on its init
Campaign saved.
DM: Also, from a total meta-game perspective… why did you not heal up before fighting the obvious Boss?
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I assumed we didn’t have any potions left.
DM: Fair enough
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I think between me and Kerowyn, we have 1? If that?
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I’ll just do total defense the whole time I guess.
Campaign saved.
‘Kalyn’ connected

dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I’m going to have to call it a night, got to get up really early tomorrow.
DM: Okay.
DM: We can take this guy on next time, I do suppose.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): I’ll be in Dallas/Houston for the next week, but I’ll have internet access so we might be able to play.
dublish (Folwyn da’Janecke): Also, work should be slowing down a lot as we get into January, so I’ll have a lot more opportunities.
DM: I’m free basically always, although I think I have another game to play next week on Saturday evening.
Folwyn da’Janecke: Well damn.
Kerowyn: im pretty free
Folwyn da’Janecke: Right when I’m leaving. :(
Kerowyn: its ok
Kerowyn: we’ve played for like 10 hours
Folwyn da’Janecke: Night guys.

Kerowyn: boom
Kedda: NIght.
